After a comprehensive selection process with 13 indicators, travel experts at lvpad.com released a list of the eight most beautiful landscapes in China for the year 2014. The eight landscapes are credited for their stunning natural scenery and good maintenance of their original appearance.

1.     Zhangye Danxia Landscape — Rainbow Mountains

Danxia means 'red, red clouds' in Chinese. The Danxia Landscape in Zhangye is vividly named “Rainbow Mountains” due to its dazzlingly colors. The landscape is composed of curvy, layered and multihued formations, most of which are several hundred meters high. When the sun shines on them, their colors appear in full vibrancy. It looks like an oil painting when the vast red rock formations are simply set against a pure blue sky. The Danxia Landsape might not be the favorite for travelers, but deeply loved by photographers.

2.     Zhangjiajie — Precipitous Pillars

The precipitous pillars in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park are the inspiration for the Hallelujah Mountains in Avatar. Zhangjiajie is famous for its towering peaks, grotesque rock pillars, and deep valleys. The forest of massive pillars is one of the best muses for photographers in China.

3.     The Li River & Yangshuo — China’s Most Beautiful Karst Landscapes

The Li River is like an artist's masterpiece, bounded by classic sheer karst hills, which have inspired many poets and ink painters. 6.     Dongchuan Red Terrrace

Dongchuan Red Land is located to northeast of Kunming City. The soil is rich in Fe and Al. The fairy land is incredibly gorgeous. The hills and terraces presents pieces of dark red, purple red, brick red, yellow farmlands. Rape flowers and yam flowers are in full bloom .Golden wheat are like moving waves with cool wind. The colorful slopes and hills consists a layer of green, a layer of white, a layer of red and a layer of gold. There is a sand pine with a history of thousands of years. It’s said that it has been dead for 3 years but come back to life amazingly with new buds. It is honored “Old Dragon Tree” by the local they think it is the magical tree that is blessing it.

7.     Jade Dragon Snow Mountain

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south, which is 15 kilometers away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence the name. The Mountain is also called the "Natural Glacier Museum" for it has all types of glacier. Move down from the mountaintop and you can see rivers and pools, which are formed by the thawed snow water running along the valley and through the forests. What more, the Mountain is a sanctuary for rare animals and wild plants. Now, it is a famous for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, exploration, scientific research and taking holiday.

8. The Yellow Mountains — Sunrises and Seas of Cloud

An image of a twisting pine tree growing from a curiously-curved rock pops into Chinese minds when they hear of the Yellow Mountains. These mystical mountains are the most beautiful and most famous in China. Their classic attractions are grand dawns and their “four natural wonders”: peculiar pines, oddly-shaped rocks, seas of clouds, and hot springs.
